How to jump with kitesurfing: step-by-step guide for beginners
12 June 2025From Playa el Moro to El Burro, riding the waves has never been easier than in Fuerteventura: and it matters little whether you are a beginner or an expert
Why is Fuerteventura so popular among surfing enthusiasts? Simple: because there are so many beautiful beaches where you can practice this spectacular sport, so many spots for all tastes and especially all levels, from budding surfers, who shyly approach the board for the first time, to those who already tame the waves with skill.
Let’s go deep and find out which are the 5 best beaches in Fuerteventura to surf, kitesurf and why not, even windsurf!
El Burro: the beach of surfers who know it all
El Burro Beach, also known as Glass Beach, is located within the Corralejo Dunes Natural Park in northern Fuerteventura.
The more than 700 meters of fine white sand are perfect for surfing, windsurfing, and kitesurfing, as well as for those seeking some relaxation. The circular stone buildings are one of the beach’s most curious features: they serve to protect visitors from the wind, but they are also a special feature that no other beach can boast.
Surfers love El Burro because of the waves, which are generated from land swell and wind swell in equal amounts, with the ideal direction of swell coming from the east-northeast. The best surfing conditions in El Burro occur when an east-northeast swell combines with offshore winds from the west, making it an ideal destination for intermediate and advanced surfers.
The best time to surf? In winter, especially in January. Although it is considered a beach suitable for experienced surfers, when the waves are small it can also be suitable for beginners and young surfers.

Entubadera: year-round surfing
Entubadera, or Playa El Viejo, is an 800-meter beach characterized by bright white sand and turquoise waters. Easily accessible by both car and bus, the Entubadera is a beach that seems to have been born for surfing, windsurfing and kitesurfing.
In moderate waves it is suitable for beginners who are learning, but not only that: in high waves it is a powerful beachbreak, with tube sections on a sandy bottom covered with rocks, a boon for experienced surfers.
The advice is to surf during high tide; the best season is from November to April. This beach is prized for year-round wave enjoyment, with excellent conditions for beginners during medium/low tides, while only more advanced surfers should practice during high tide.
